David Pérez, Minister of Transport and Infrastructures of the Community of Madrid visited this morning the Air Cargo Center of the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, where he was received by representatives of Foro MADCargo, who explained to the Minister the operational and competitive keys of an essential infrastructure for the logistics of goods in Spain.

The Minister learned first-hand about the decisive role for the economy of the goods that transit daily through the Air Cargo Center, as well as the keys to all its airport operations, in a tour of the airport facilities to learn about the work of the handling companies and the first-line integrating companies, as well as the value-added activity of the logistics operators installed in the second line of the CCA.
In the same way, the Minister has known in situ the important projects of installation of new logistic companies in the Air Cargo Center and the infrastructures developments foreseen in the short term.
During the visit, the heads of Foro MADCargo had the opportunity to convey to the Regional Minister of Transport and Infrastructures of the Community of Madrid the logistic importance of air cargo and the transcendental role that the Community of Madrid can play as the backbone and

Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport closed again in 2021 as the leading Airport in freight traffic in the Aena network in Spain, with 523.39 million kilos, which represented 52.4% of the total freight handled by Spanish airports. Madrid-Barajas likewise remained in 2021 among the 10 European airports with the highest freight traffic.
The Air Cargo Center at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport has a total surface area of 128.9 hectares, of which 59.9 hectares are currently in service. A total of 40 companies have warehouses and first- and second-line logistics facilities from which they operate.

In addition, Aena is currently developing another 28 hectares of logistics facilities in what will be the first phase of Airport City Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas.

Today's visit of the Minister of Transport and Infrastructures of the Community of Madrid to the Air Cargo Center of the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport responds to the commitment expressed by David Pérez last December 15 during the working meeting he held with the representatives of Foro MADCargo to visit the CCA in situ, within the framework of the collaboration established between both entities.
